Service

Our Family loves to do service for other people.  It's funny because we love it just as much as dancing on the week ends together at the country clubs we go to.  Some of our most memorable service projects we have done are: 1 Brett, I and the kids all love going to the food bank together.  We've gone three times and every time that we do the kids beg to go back.  Infact the last time we went the kids asked if we could just get on their calendar one day a month.  Brett and the Boys stock shelves and work in the freezers. We help customers check out their free groceries and  clean the food bank as a family before we leave. 2) At Christmas time the last three years we have done a sub for santa for a couple different families. Brett and I came up with this idea to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas.  We told them that we would like to buy Christmas for a couple families that had no money, but that we didn't have enough money to buy Christmas for the poor and f

Late Nights with our Teens

This after noon Rebekah put together a night at the movies with all her church friends.  Of course her friends and Brandon and Austins friends as well.  So she invited Austin and Brandon to go too.  Before they left they were all three in my room getting ready to go.  They were all three so excited.  They ended up wearing coordinating outfits.  I heard Rebekah say to Brandon, "There's only one thing that could make this night even more perfect.  It would be you having your license and you driving us all over to the movies."  What fun it was for me to see my three oldest running around with each other and all their friends.  Rebekah, Brandon and Austin are all so close.  They are so lucky to have each other.  Of course on the way home their friend Abby and Tanner Dewey have an older sister who is going to take them t-ping to another one of their friends from seminary; Justin Mcgowan.  Rebekah said, "he stole my basket ball so I must make him pay, we will have to smoth

Feelings of Gratitude All Along the Way

Marilyn Stoner leaves me feeling so close to heaven just by the way she serves me.  From the moment she contacted me about the job offer that I sent out on the ward email she has told me to call her any time, day or night to come take care of Mariela.  While she's here she loves to spoil my other kids with so much love.  When I need to go somewhere that would be difficult with babies I just call Marilyn and she comes over and takes care of Mariela and anyone else that's in the house.  So here I am with 7 kids and three babies under 2 and I have as much freedom as I always did before I had these three sweet little babies.  For the longest time I literally fought that offer and thought, "surely she can't mean that." But for the last 8 months she has proven to me that she knows how to serve and love others more than anyone I have ever known.  The realization that I have 7 children and I am completely free to seep everything that is good and wonderful from this life a

Happy Birthday Rachel!! We Love You!!

Image
Happy Birthdya Rachel! I hope you had a good day.   I started her day by decorating for her early morning birthday breakfast before school.  Of course I had her birthday present hanging from the kitchen light.  It said, "happy birthday Rachel, LET'S GO SHOPPING! And I gave her $100.  That's a lot of money for a ten year old.  But, Rachel rarely gets anything new because she has such cute hand- me- downs from her sister.  I wanted her and I to spend the day just buying all the things that are her personality to add to her ward robe.  The first thing she said was, "can rebekah miss school too and go shopping with us?  She's my best friend, shopping wouldn't be the same with out her."  I was shocked because I thought she'd enjoy the time alone with mom.  But, I was pleasantly surprised.  We had a really good time.  We started out by running an hours worth of errands that I figured would take 15 minutes.  We first dropped off snacks to Brandon and Au

Eathyn Has the Croup

At one a.m. Eathyn started crouping in his crib.  It was bad!  Every single time he breathed out he would croup really bad.  I took him into the bathroom and started the hot water.  The steam subsided the severity of his cough but he was still sounding bad.  I put him in bed with Brett and I when he started to panic in his crib because of the cough.  While I was in there I gave him some ice water and that immediately started to break up the cough.  Interesting.... is croup that simple, all it needs is some nice cold ice water???? I was glad to come across a remedy that was so simple.  While I was laying there I started thinking about the events of the evening before and told Brett about something really funny that had happened.  Every morning when Mariela's nurse Marilyn walks through the door Eathyn use to ask for candy.  After a couple days of this I thought, "is he too young to learn to say good morning instead of, 'can I have some candy?' " I taught him how to
