Mom's latest adventure- I Seriously Didn't Think I Had it in me any More!

We went to Ashdown for Thanksgiving this year. Rebekah asked me to come catch the horse that no body else on the property can catch or ride.  She said, "Mom, I know you can catch him.  You're really good with horses."  Here was the faith of this sweet daughter of mine, what was I suppose to say?'  I knew I had a huge job ahead of me, but I no longer felt qualified.   I said, "Rebekah, it's been thirty years since I touched a horse! If they can't catch and ride their own horse I don't think I'll be able to either."  She said, "Mom, I know you'll be able to catch him, please come try."  It took me probably an  hour and I finally had his bridle on.  Once that was done I thought, "Okay, if we're getting on this horse, I'm not putting a saddle on him if he's not going to let us ride him."  So, I threw my self up, on to that horse, and he just stood there. I was so relieved when I realized  I was still on him an

Brandon's Eagle Scout Project

October started out very busy.  I was right smack in the middle of my classes to become a  certified teacher for Aware Central Texas.  By mid October I was through with the classes and with that certification I can now teach parenting courses and anger management classes.   Brandon was cramming to get his eagle project completed.  He had it planned 2 weeks before his 18th birthday but it rained so he had to put it off.  He was very nervous! Two days before his birthday he finally completed his project.  I was so proud of him! He did an excellent job leading those that showed up to help.  He had a great turn out.  I was pleased with our ward as usual.  I had no idea before the morning of, that girls are welcomed to come work on eagle scout projects.  Brandon begged me the morning of to come out and participate.  I rearranged my schedule and went out.  Eathyn was so excited to be a part of all the action.  Brandon was kind as usual to include him and make him feel important.

She said they were amazing!I told her we would make a valiant effort to make cool ones too.  We both knew what that meant.  We know there's not a creative bone in our bodies and we are okay with that.  I realized the night  we carameled apples together that there was a little bit of magic in the air that I love so much, I've longed to feel that happiness since Brett's campaign started a year ago.  Between the campaign and Mariela's death, the life was sucked right out of this house. I've missed it something dreadful!   Carameling apples is a tradition that all the kids still love and look forward to.  They were far from beautiful but they were certainly better than what they looked like by the next evening.  We had a house full of people over to watch the election with us. While they were here I discovered all the caramel had slid o
